    Andrew Eppley Shue was born  February 20, 1967, is an American actor, and is best known for his portrayal of Billy Campbell in the television series Melrose Place (1992–1999). He is a member of the Do Something board of directors (which he co-founded). He is also a co-founder of the social networking website CafeMom.

    Shue was born in the city of Wilmington, Delaware. His mother, Anne Brewster, is a bank executive who served as vice president of the Chemical Bank Corporation’s private division.

    His father, James William Shue, was a lawyer and real estate developer. He was president of the International Food and Beverage Corporation. He was active in Republican politics, having run unsuccessfully for the United States Congress in New Jersey.

    His mother descended from Pilgrim leader William Brewster, and his father was of Pennsylvania German descent.

    He is an American actor and entrepreneur most well-known for his role as Billy Campbell in the Melrose Place television series (1992–1999).

    He collaborated on the 2007 feature film Gracie with his sister Elisabeth, brother John, and brother-in-law, An Inconvenient Truth director Davis Guggenheim. Shue co-produced the film and played a supporting role. It honors the Shue siblings’ elder brother Will, who was killed in an accident in 1988.

    He made his first TV show appearance in The Wonder Years in the role of Brian Billings.

    Shue spent many years as a professional soccer player.

    In May 1992, Shue was cast as Billy Campbell on Aaron Spelling’s soap opera Melrose Place. He co-starred in the film with Courtney Thorne-Smith, whom he later dated. Shue was a regular on the show for six years. During this time, he played an abusive husband in Francis Ford Coppola’s film The Rainmaker, starring Matt Damon and Claire Danes.

    Shue is traded for former SportsCenter anchor Charley Steiner in a 1996 ESPN commercial, with Steiner taking over Melrose Place and Shue taking over SportsCenter.

    Shue played for the Bulawayo Highlanders in Zimbabwe. The Highlanders won both the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League and the CBZ Cup that season.

    During this time, he appeared in the Francis Ford Coppola film The Rainmaker as an abusive husband. The film also starred Matt Damon and Claire Danes. In September 1993, he appeared in one game for Los Angeles United of the Continental Indoor Soccer League.

    He appeared in two games for the Anaheim Splash in July 1994. Shue played for Los Angeles Galaxy of MLS in 1996 while still living on Melrose Place, recording one assist in five games. He was on injured reserve for the entire 1997 season.

    Shue co-founded DoSomething with his childhood best friend, Michael Sanchez. He is now a member of the board of directors.

    In 2006, Shue and Sanchez co-founded the social networking website CafeMom. Highland Capital Partners and Draper Fisher Jurvetson are the lead investors. The site used to be an online community where moms could connect and share advice and ideas.

    CafeMom’s community forums were shut down on May 24, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. EST. The company blamed the shutdown on high advertising costs. CafeMom is now part of a family of companies that includes the blog The Stir, Baby Name Wizard, and the popular Latina site MamasLatinas.

    Shue co-hosted the “Mad Life” podcast with his mother-in-law, Joan Robach, and comedian Chuck Nice.
